Please make time and enjoy this musical exchange between the West Feliciana Community Singers and the TF Gospel Singers of Paris, France this weekend in St. Francisville.
Twenty-three singers from France, Africa and the Caribbean will be in St. Francisville this weekend for a cultural exchange with the West Feliciana Community Singers. The TF Gospel Singers are part of a 200 member choir, directed by Thierry Francois. Three events during their visit here are open to the community.
A Gospel Music Workshop, conducted by both choirs, will be held Saturday in Jackson Hall, Grace Episcopal Church, which is located on Ferdinand Street. Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m., and the workshop will be held from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Participants will learn a song from each choir and be invited to perform Sunday evening. Observers are welcome.
Sunday morning, the TF Gospel Singers will perform at St. Peter Baptist Church, 9109 Tunica Trace. Dr. Olton Scott, pastor, will lead the 11 a.m. service. The service is open to the community.
A Performance of Gospel Music will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday at St. Francisville United Methodist Church, located on Royal Street. Both choirs will perform individually and together.
Ken Dawson leads the West Feliciana Community Singers who are mentored by his brother, Thomas Dawson, of The Commodores.
